Clinical supervision
“In brief, supervision entails several elements: developing the supervisee’s professional skills, supervisee gaining in self-awareness, protecting the client, and mentoring and evaluating the supervisee’s services to clients. These elements are fostered within a learning alliance between supervisor and supervisee...”
(Augustine Meier, "Practical Clinical Supervision for Psychotherapists: A Self and Relational Approach")
Having completed the British Psychological Society’s training in Essential and Advanced Supervision Skills, I provide clinical supervision (online and in person) for counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists. My goal as a Clinical supervisor is to facilitate your growth as a therapist and to support you in your therapeutic work within a non-judgemental, safe environment. I aim to offer support which feels appropriate to your current developmental level as a psychological practitioner.
Using Hawkins and Shohet's Double Matrix Seven-Eyed Model, we will explore your work through different lenses and perspectives, namely:
_edited.jpg)
-
Your experience and description of the content session, client narrative and behaviour
-
Exploration and discussion of the process and interventions in the therapy room
-
Reflection on the therapeutic relationship and process
-
Discussion of your reactions to the client and possible implications
-
Parallel process (exploring parallels between how you feel and react during supervision, and the client's reactions and behaviour in the therapy room)
-
The supervisor's counter-transference and interpretation of implicit and explicit interactions within the client-therapist dyad
-
Focus on the broader organisational, cultural, social, ethical and contractual contexts of therapy and supervision.
Although supervision is a mandatory requirement of our professional organisations, I hope you come to value it as a fascinating and exciting space to explore your work whilst feeling supported and motivated. If you are seeking a supervisor and would like to discuss this with me, please provide your contact details, experience/ stage of your career, therapeutic modality, and availability for supervision sessions.
